California State Capitol during blue hour (2022)

from $399.00

A night shot of the California State Capitol in Sacramento. Over the past couple of years, I uploaded several photos of the State Capitol without ever being entirely happy with the result. This one is different. I particularly like the colors and I clearly remember the night I took the image. This place will always be close to my heart as I was sworn in as a U.S. citizen in a building nearby.

This image achieved “Featured Picture” status, which is Wikipedia’s designation for finest image quality. The photo has since been used in the article “California State Capitol” on various Wikipedia language versions.

This picture was taken with a Canon R3 camera and a Canon RF 24–70mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens. The lens is part of Canon’s L-Series, known for superb optics and performance.

Museum-quality print produced with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta paper using a professional wide format Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 printer.

Hahnemühle paper is made in my home state of Lower Saxony in Germany. It dates back to the year 1584 when the Duke of Braunschweig granted the right to build a paper mill to paper making craftsman Merten Spieß. Hahnemühle paper fulfills highest quality standards and provides an excellent ageing resistance.
