San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridges (2013)

from $499.00

A rare night shot showing both the new and old eastern span of the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge. I still remember driving to Yerba Buena Island several nights in a row in order to get this shot right. I guess it was worth all the effort. Not only does this photo document a special moment in time, it also won the 1st prize in the national Wiki Loves Monuments photo contest in 2013.

This image achieved “Featured Picture” status, which is Wikipedia’s designation for finest image quality. The photo has since been used in articles like “Bay Bridge”, and “Eastern span replacement of the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge”, on various Wikipedia language versions.

This picture was taken with a Canon EOS 7D camera and a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM lens. The lens is known for its groundbreaking resolution and image quality.
