Sonoma chipmunks at Samuel P. Taylor State Park (2017)

$399.00

Sonoma chipmunks (Tamias sonomae) at Samuel P. Taylor State Park in Marin County. A juvenile and an adult. It took me more than a year to find this species and take this image as part of a joint project with biologist and fellow Wikipedian Achim Raschka. While my friend wrote the text of the featured article on the German Wikipedia, I provided the photos and videos. Cooperating closely across disciplines (and sometimes continents) is what I truly enjoy about my journey as a Wikipedia contributor.

This image achieved “Featured Picture” status, which is Wikipedia’s designation for finest image quality. The photo has since been used in articles like “Sonoma chipmunk”, and “Rodentia”, on various Wikipedia language versions.

This picture was taken with a Canon 7D Mark II camera and a Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM lens. The lens is part of Canon’s acclaimed L-Series, known for superb optics and performance.

Museum-quality print produced with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta paper using a professional wide format Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 printer.

Hahnemühle paper is made in my home state of Lower Saxony in Germany. It dates back to the year 1584 when the Duke of Braunschweig granted the right to build a paper mill to paper making craftsman Merten Spieß. Hahnemühle paper fulfills highest quality standards and provides an excellent ageing resistance.
