My Favorite 2013 Landscape Photos on Wikimedia Commons

How many of you can resist a breathtaking landscape photo? I can’t. In particular, when vivid colors and interesting shapes mix with perfect light. In order to take such a mind-blowing image, you have to be at the right place at the right time. And that’s easier said than done. Sometimes, it takes several attempts to take such a photo. Just because the weather wasn’t right when you first tried. Or because you screwed up the camera settings.

Given all these difficulties, I find it more than amazing that volunteers around the world share some of their most stunning images without charge. Because they believe in Wikipedia’s vision of making knowledge freely available to every single person on the planet.

Here’s a small collection of my favorite landscape photos that got uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, Wikipedia’s media repository, in 2013. Enjoy!
